Universally-Designed Assessments

In summary

Universally designed assessments:

  • Separate ends from means
  • Provide for multiple means of expression
  • Are designed to measure knowledge or skills, not a learner's ability to function in a given medium

While there is much more to this topic, following these three principles for assessment can yield meaningful learning experiences for your students in which they demonstrate (and are proud to demonstrate) that they are actually paying attention to you and learning.
