Native Knowledge: Sun the Father

Design Your Own Sun Pictograph

While there are all kinds of suns you could draw, perhaps the most important concept you should take from the Sun is that of "rightful orientation." Below is a circle for the earth and a Man figure representing you. We begin simply with your physical orientation. How well are you oriented to your physical location? Drag the man and drop him in the circle in a position representing how you currently feel in your physical location.

Need help considering this one? For three years, my husband and I lived in a small house in a town we did not really like. We chose living there for all very practical reasons, but did not feel "at home." During that time, I would have put my figure near the periphery of the circle, sometimes high in the circle because I felt above where we lived, sometimes low in the circle because I felt blah about where we lived. I might have even placed myself completely outside of the circle at some points. Now, we are really making that house our own and are connecting with other people in the same town. We feel much more rooted and involved and are therefore moving toward a more centered physical orientation now.
